Discover the wonders of science with us next year as we offer six different science classes for homeschoolers in the Brazos Valley. From foundational concepts to hands-on discoveries, our courses are designed to make learning fun and engaging. Join us as we use science and faith to explore the world around us!
Kindergarten-1st Grade (Wednesdays at 10am at the Legends Event Center)
Our First Things class will be exploring Five Gifts Science in the Fall and Creation Science in the Spring. Five Gifts Science presents hands-on and minds-on science learning experiences in a way that helps students make connections between their ability to see, smell, taste, hear and feel with their ability to make observations about the world around them. Using these gifts, we will then explore Creation Science where we will use hands-on science activities and demonstrations to explore introductory science concepts associated with each of the days of creation. If you can pay for the whole year in advance, I am happy to take 10% off the tuition price ($320 for the year) |
2nd-3rd grade (Wednesdays at 11am at the Legends Event Center)
Our Elementary Science class will be discovering The World in His Hands. It is a two-semester experience that uses books, hands-on experiences, and group activities to learn about the flora and fauna that fill our world. This class is foundational in their science education as they will build on this knowledge in middle school science as well as in Biology in high school. 4th-6th grade (Wednesdays at 9am at the Legends Event Center)
Our Intermediate Science class with be going on a Journey to the Center of the Earth. This will be a two semester exploration where we will dig in and excavate information on land formations, minerals, crystals, seismic waves, rock layers and fossils in a way that honors our Creator God. Junior High Science (Wednesdays at 10am in the Route 104 Science Airstream at the Legends Event Center)
Systems in Nature (9-10am in Airstream) is an engaging science class tailored for curious minds who thrive on understanding how things function. Throughout this year-long course, 6th and 7th grade students will delve into the intricate systems of Space, Earth, and Life Sciences, unraveling their complexities and uncovering the interconnections between their components. Class meetings are designed to foster interactive learning within a collaborative group setting. Students will actively participate in various activities, including filling out fill-in-the-blank notetaking guides during lectures and partnering up for hands-on investigations. These investigations may involve conducting experiments, organizing topic-specific cards, or constructing models to deepen comprehension. Systems in Nature offers a dynamic learning environment where students can cultivate their scientific curiosity while developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Junior High Science (Wednesdays at 10am in the Route 104 Science Airstream at the Legends Event Center)
Scaling Up Science (10-11am in Airstream) is designed to guide science learners through the transition from hands-on observations to the exploration of abstract scientific concepts, theories, and laws. Tailored for 7th and 8th grade students entering the realm of more complex scientific understanding, this year-long course offers a stimulating journey into the formation of contemporary scientific theories and laws within a dynamic group setting. Throughout the course, students will engage in a variety of in-class activities aimed at reinforcing comprehension and fostering critical thinking. These activities may include filling in fill-in-the-blank notetaking guides during lectures and collaborating with peers to conduct investigations, organize topic-specific cards, or construct models. By actively participating in these activities, students will deepen their understanding of abstract scientific principles while honing their analytical skills. If you have a high school student that needs a science high school credit, I will be teaching a high school Astronomy class on Thursday evenings at 7pm. The location of the class will be in Bryan and in Caldwell. Most classes will be in Caldwell away from city lights. We will have our class and then see what we can see after class with a once a month Star Gathering to practice our observation skills and knowledge.
Signs and Seasons High School Astronomy class will entail learning about Classical Astronomy. The focus of the class will be on the visual observation of the motions of the celestial bodies. Objectives for this class include:
